In its Top Five “Under Wraps” Health Searches for 2007, Ask.com discovered visitors were most interested in learning more about early symptoms of pregnancy, officials of the search engine said in a news release. Pregnancy was followed by questions about how long marijuana stays in one’s system, herpes, depression and Viagra.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Eli Lilly and Co on Tuesday said U.S. regulators approved once-daily use of two low-dose forms of its Cialis anti-impotence drug, offering greater convenience for men expecting frequent sexual activity.

The Indianapolis drugmaker said the once-daily formulations, in dosages of 2.5 milligrams and 5 milligrams, will allow men to attempt sexual activity any time between doses.

“In clinical trials, when taken without restrictions on the timing of sexual activity, Cialis for once daily use improved erectile function over the course of therapy,” Lilly said in a release.

The low-dose daily formulations, already approved in parts of Europe, “may be most appropriate for men with erectile dysfunction who anticipate more frequent sexual activity (e.g. twice weekly),” Lilly said.

Galactogil, a supplement that supposedly increases milk production in nursing mothers, and Santi Bovine Penis Erecting Capsule, a �natural’ aid for treating erectile dysfunction (ED), are both the subjects of a Health Canada Alert. According to Health Canada, Galactogil has been found to be contaminated with an unspecified microbe, while the Santi Bovine Penis Erecting Capsule contains Sildenafil, the active ingredient in prescription ED drugs like Viagra. Neither of the defective drugs are authorized for sale in Canada, but Health Canada says they may have been purchased by Canadians travelling abroad.

Galactogil is manufactured in France, and the French Health Products Safety Agency recently advised consumers there not to purchase or consume certain lots of Galactogil due to microbial (bacterial) contamination. The bacteria found in Galactogil may cause a variety of adverse effects, such as pneumonia and blood poisoning.

In a move that could help give Indianapolis drugmaker Eli Lilly and Co. an edge over its rivals in the growing market for erectile dysfunction, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Cialis for daily use.

The once-a-day version will be marketed for men who anticipate having sex two or more times a week, without confining it to a limited time frame. The current dosage of Cialis works for about 36 hours. Viagra and the other major erectile-dysfunction drug, Levitra, work for about four hours.
When Cialis is taken daily, men can attempt sexual activity at any time between doses. The low-dose daily version of the drug is already available in parts of Europe, Lilly said. Neither Viagra nor Levitra, a pair of competitors, is sold in once-daily doses.

The FDA is warning men against turning to “dietary supplements” to fight erectile dysfunction (ED). Many of these may contain prescription drugs that are not labeled and can be harmful.

“The number of these problematic products available on the Internet appears to be increasing,” according to Linda Silvers, of the FDA’s Internet and Health Fraud Team.

Many consumers think products are safe because they are called “natural”.

Silvers team did an internet survey and found more than one-third of “dietary supplements” that claim they put a zing in your love life, contained undisclosed prescription drugs.
