Tourists lost property includes Viagra

A PACKET of Viagra was amongst a varied array of items lost at National Trust properties across East Anglia last year.

The bizarre list includes false teeth found at Lavenham Guildhall, a who’s who book of international murderers at Ickworth House, a pair of swimming trucks at Dunwich Heath and even a diamond ring recovered in the ladies toilet at Lavenham Guildhall.

Amongst the more unusual discoveries - including the Viagra at Blickling Hall, Norfolk - the trust also recorded common items you would expect to find in a lost property box.

These included 81 pairs of glasses; 68 gloves; 65 hats; 36 umbrellas; 17 cameras and seven shoes - and these were not all pairs. Others included a toy plastic horse and paddock at Melford Hall, a seat from a mobility scooter at Flatford Bridge Cottage and a once well-loved toy hamster at Sutton Hoo.

A National Trust spokesman said: “This is not to mention numerous mobile phones, dozens of buttons and an endless supply of walking sticks!!!”

He added: “In the past, a beautiful diamond engagement ring was left behind in the ladies toilet at Lavenham Guildhall, which was eventually claimed by a lady from Australia, who had spent four days retracing her steps around Suffolk.

“Like at the Guildhall, many of the items are later re-united with their owners. So, next time you visit a National Trust property, make sure you have everything with you before you leave.”
